West Street Elementary School

Dear West Street Families,

It is an honor to be returning as Principal of West Street Elementary for the upcoming school year. I hope that the summer provided you and your family time to be together, laugh together, and enjoy the company of friends.  I’m excited to welcome you back as our first day of school will be Thursday, August 18th.  Corning Union Elementary School District will continue to uphold all safety protocols for the health and wellness of all students, community, and staff members.

This will be my fifth year serving the community of Corning.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our parents, grandparents, and caregivers.  I look forward to working and collaborating with even more of you this year. Together we will continue to prepare our children for the adventures and challenges of adulthood through academics, social-emotional learning, and good old fashion work ethics! 

My unwavering belief is that every child can reach their potential with a united community and strong partnership between our families and school staff.  In building confidence and resilience in our students we are setting them on a path in which they will have the knowledge and tools to shape their future, the future of our community, and our country. 

To our students, I cannot wait to welcome you all back on campus! You’ll all be a year older, a little taller, and a lot wiser.  I’m very excited to see you all again!  I hope that you are excited for this coming school year and that you are out this summer playing and reading tons of books with your family and friends. It is going to be a fun year learning together. 

You may have noticed the construction on campus.  We are excited about the new classrooms, blacktop, gym, cafeteria, and more that are going into modernizing our campus.  During this construction phase, we have perimeter fencing and designated student walkways to ensure student safety. 

In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022 - 2023 school year.
